Kid Rock ruined one big party that was partially in his honor. He’s also unwittingly sparked a divide among NAACP members. The Detroit chapter of the NAACP planned to award Kid Rock with the Great Expectations Award at their annual dinner, which typically draws 10,000 people. Many plan to boycott the event because of the entertainer’s use of the confederate flag in his stage performances

Kid Rock has stated that the flag stands for Southern Rock, but others see it as a symbol of hatred and bigotry, and a slap in the face to anyone who fought for civil rights in this country. On the plus side: Donnell R. White, interim executive director of the Detroit Branch NAACP said, "Kid Rock has consistently lifted up the Great Expectations of many persons…concerning the future of the city."

We’ll soon see if The Kid sticks by his guns, or the South no longer rises in his shows.
