There are not many songs where the hook is enough to create a meaningful and universal anthem. Perhaps, You Can’t Always Get What you Want, May You Stay Forever Young, and of course I’ve Got Big Balls by ACDC.
Lady Gaga, Hear! Here! I am sure it was created with gays in mind, but it crosses all levels. Lady Gaga has something to say. I haven’t heard much content in music now for 25 years or so. A bright light, I hope she lasts.
I also recently watched Monster Ball on HBO. For those not tuned in, she uses the term "monster" do celebrate misfits of one persuasion or another. And there you pretty much have it. Some shake their finger in you face and others lift you up. AND THERE IS NO MORAL EQUIVALENCY BETWEEN THE TWO. Just as there is no equivalency between those who do not want gays to have the same rights as anyone else, and those who do.
