Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Cuba, American History and New Zealand

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Cuba US, Presidential Scandal, New Zealand Flag Art

On Last Week Tonight, John Oliver covers the renewed friendship between the US and Cuba, an unlikely and historical presidential sex scandal  – and  proof positive that opening a flag design contest to New Zealand citizens is humorous, if not successful.

John packs a great deal of information into this relatively short segment, but you might be amazed by what you’ll learn. For instance, you’ll see why being a diplomat not only involves glitzy parties, world travel and meeting the most  brilliant people in the world. It also involves the responsibility of  speeding hot Cuban baby batter across international lines,to a waiting mama-to-be.

If I said a president had an affair in a White House broom closet which resulted in a love child,  who had been kept a strict secret for decades – this is not one of the first presidents who’d come to mind.

In art and country! You will be among the first to see the flag designs created by citizens of one of the most beautiful countries on the planet, New Zealand. The country is known for their wonderful native art, so their flag designs should be spectacular – right?  Brace yourself. All of the designs are genuine.. John’s favorite is pictured.  Titled: ‘Explosion”  The artist explains:  “Because New Zealanders like eggs and explosions are cool.”  One of my personal favorites is pictured in the video, and titled : “Kiwi  in police floodlight failing field sobriety test.”
All of this begs the question, were no Aborigines invited to enter the contest?
