On Last Week Tonight, John Oliver’s update on the absurdities and tensions between North and South Korea is not-to-be missed! In two minutes, we learn the real nitty gritty behind this stand-off. Sure we knew that the warring countries have exchanged fire over the DMZ, and that total war hinges on a whim of Kim Jong Un – who is a very whimsical and spontaneous guy. If Kim gives the word, there is no turning back.
There is no doubt that Kim Jong-Un is a bad guy: but no one told us what South Korea was blasting at their northern neighbors, through their gigantic Wall of Sound. John pleads with South Korea to cease and desist playing inexplicably popular artist, Min-woo Hwang: “Please don’t. That’s not just a declaration of war, that’s basically saran gas with a backbeat and auto-tune.” Let’s hope the warring factions can heed John’s words – over the noise.
