Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Torture (enhanced interrogation) with Helen Mirrin

On Last Week Tonight,  John Oliver explores the US Senate Torture Report, , revealing horrifying details of America’s interrogation program, and Helen Mirren reads aloud, providing an audio book version of the report.

Marvel as Dick Cheney lies about the lives saved, and intelligence obtained by ‘enhanced interrogation.’  Realize that ‘enhanced interrogation’ (AKA torture) has never  yielded valid results outside of the film industry.  Finally try not to throw up in your mouth as you hear what America does in the name of ‘intelligence gathering.’  A  former FBI agent and counter terrorism expert Jack Cloonan  speaks about information gathering, and not once does he mention the following:
“Rectal Re-hydration” – it’s worse than it sounds,  Russian Roulette, Gun and Power Drill Threat, and Shackle (innocent) subject to cell wall until death by hypothermia.
Americans think torture works because it always works in the movies!  People who should know better speak of Keifer Sutherland’s Jack Bauer as if he is a real hero.  John Oliver sums it up.

“If enhanced interrogation weren’t torture – which it is, and even if torture did work – which it doesn’t,  America should not be a country that tortures people, because it IS brutal.  It IS medieval.  And it IS beneath us.  And when the rest of the world thinks about America, they should not think of THIS, because that’s not what this country’s about. They should be thinking about this…Keifer attacking a Christmas tree.
YES! There is nothing more American than a drunk man jumping into a Christmas tree.
