The entire world is seeing an unexpected side of the murderous madman,Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, thanks to an email leak which includes his iTunes list, and John Oliver. Never again will I presume to know the musical taste of another individual based upon looks or actions.. After seeing the tunes, John Oliver accurately commented,”Assad has the political instincts of Stalin, and the musical tastes of a 14 year old girl from Orange County named Tiffany.”
I sense a theme in the list. Featured prominently are the songs “Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO, and “I’m Too Sexy” by “Right Said Fred.” the band who wrote and performed the bouncy sexual put-on and camp, vamp, party song of the nineties. Perhaps imagining the war criminal enjoying the musical fun of “I’m Too Sexy” in the privacy of his room – away from the glare of his truly fierce mother, dancing and striking pouty poses, gave John the terrific idea. Oliver reasons,” We’re powerless to hurt him, if only we could ruin something he loves…Like fly Right Said Fred over from London.”
Oliver contacted “Right Said Fred” who were none too happy to be on any list of Assad’s. ..But they were very happy to write and perform a version of “I’m Too Sexy” just for Assad titled “You’re So Awful!” live on John’s show!
I hope you’ll enjoy this brilliantly hilarious treatment of this song, that is so catchy that even a mass-murdering dictator can’t resist tapping his cloven hoof. Of course his feelings may change a bit when he truly hears his personalized version. Although it’s not exactly complimentary, it’s no less delightful for us, and great to see Right Said Fred delivering the goods to Assad!
