Measles Vaccination Idiocy Unites Nuts, Left and Right

In ‘News in a Nutshell’ cartoon news feature, we visit a nation united – against vaccination, as the radical left and the way-out right agree on one thing, – that measles and all vaccinations are unhealthy!  By contrast, small pox, polio, whooping cough and measles, which we’ve all but eradicated – are a picnic?

The two disparate  groups have one goal,  but for different reasons. The conspiracy-prone right don’t ‘want no stinkin’ government mandates,’ – while the colonic irrigation crowd have been taken in by two (now disproved) ‘experts.’ Never has one bad medical paper traveled so fast, so far and taken in so many. We can thank ‘expert’ and former Playboy
bunny Jennie McCarthy, and a former ‘Doctor’ Wakefield, who has been barred from (truly) practicing on anyone else. Lancet takes it badly when they have been hoodwinked by a fact-free paper!

The entire flap should fade away now that the facts are out, and we can go back to ensuring that formerly eradicated diseases stay that way. We’ll just consider it to be a huge national misunderstanding, and the two sides can return to their respective corners…Right?   Wrong. If vaccination paranoia continues to gain traction, we can blame it squarely on politicians, where it usually belongs. Rand Paul and Mike Huckabee – who vaccinated their children, may keep the dangerous movement alive, and combine it with other popular unscientific movements.

In a craven display of disease tolerance, the two assure themselves of votes by any cave-dwelling climate change deniers, who may have missed hearing that the anti-vaxxer claims have been dismissed.  Anything for a vote, even if you have to kiss a lot of spotty babies!
