Mika was rendered helpless to stop gales of laughter and giggling today, after viewing what has turned out to be a controversial Letterman spoof of Dick Cheney. The clip began with the cheerily optimistic Mary Tyler Moore Show theme…"Who can turn the world on with her (his) smile," a contradiction which alone, is worthy of a laugh.
Not everyone thought the clip was as funny as Mika..who, let’s face it – as the token liberal on Morning Joe needs a good chuckle. When one of her stunned male co-workers glowered down at her from on high presuming to bring her around with a comment about the bad taste of the clip, he only received an "I don’t care, it was funny," – and more wiping of tears, from the usually composed Mika, who was completely wrecked by the clip.
I say stick with it Mika! Please don’t yield to pressure and apologize tomorrow. Disapproving co-workers aren’t the only ones who saw it besides you. "Hateful and horrible" is only an opinion of the conservatives who emailed the show in staunch defense of the ailing war profiteer, who exchanged American lives for his own Halliburton and KBR profits. If he can bring a laugh to you, it will have been one of his only decent acts – even if indirectly.
