Well it seems the take away moment from both conventions was Khizer Khan with his Gold Star wife [mothers who sacrificed their children to war] reaching into his pocket to loan his copy of the constitution Donald Trump. After Trump responded with an attack on his wife Ghazala Khan and the Muslim religion, Mrs Khan SPOKE UP while Mr Khan told us what we already knew, Donald Trump has a “black heart.”
Of course this will gain Trump a few points from his minions, and may [I must “may”] cause The Donald to actually shoot a Muslim on 5th avenue to prove his point, which is indeed a point well taken.
There have always been and always will be great hyperbole, hypocrisy, elitism, untrustworthiness, lies and the GREAT UNSAID coming from politicians and the media, but the greatest unsaid of all in this cycle is how quiet the RNC, the DNC, and the media are about Donald Trump’s minions, angry purple faced “poorly educated” bigots and racists who are directly responsible for his rise to possibly becoming the most powerful piece of poop in the world.
How did it happen? It is nothing new other than these dark minions who have been with us forever finally finding a voice and leader in a an orange fascist buffoon.
It began on January 21st 1981 when Ronald Reagan arm in arm with Jerry Falwell turned Christianity into the biggest right-wing political PAC in American history, while at the same time planting in our collective souls the belief that all our problems stem from the federal government.
So powerful was that message that as Reagan moved out Rush Limbaugh moved in, taking the intolerant anger from a local radio station in central California – where he read off death lists of men who had died of AIDS while pushing the laugh and applause buttons in his studio – to New York and national syndication followed by hundreds of copycats who literally took over AM radio, which in turn lead in just a few years to Roger Ailes creating Fox News, a right-wing cable news network which became the most watched and profitable news outlet in America. Legs and all.
The comparison in the darkness of the Republican convention to the light of the Democratic convention and the subsequent responses can be best seen through the Gold Star mothers featured in both.
A very angry mother turned by her grief into so much raw unstable hatred she got the crowd chanting LOCK HER UP LOCK HER UP and personally blame Hillary Clinton for murdering her son and the response from Hillary Clinton in support of that sadly unstable woman to express her understanding of the grief she must suffer.
On the other hand, in the light of the Democratic convention a Muslim couple, a Father who lost his son decried Trump’s Muslim ban by holding up a copy of the Constitution and asking The Donald to read it – which we all know he never has – with his sadly silent wife and the response from Donald Trump which was to attack the mother for her silence and the Muslim religion.
Sure there will be independents and some Republicans turning away for Donald Trump as the sheer weight of his words build to a crescendo, but not his minions, they feed off it, it is who and what they are.
My worry is not a Trump Administration which will not happen, but what these armed to the teeth losers after their noses are rubbed in their own crap.
