No Carolina and Georgia, Anti-LGBTQ Laws, Religious Freedom or Discrimination – Seth Meyers

No Carolina and Georgia, Anti-LGBTQ Laws, Religious Freedom or Discrimination - Seth Meyers

Seth takes a closer look at the new religious freedom laws proposed in North Carolina and Georgia, which are a reaction to the constitutional right to marry given to gay people last year.   Gay-hating lawmakers aren’t about to take this sitting down, or standing up depending upon the bathroom proscribed for their use.

Georgia and North Carolina are two states which chose to enact religious freedom laws, as an end-run to the national law. The two states would enact state laws which would protect the very sanctity of a faith based business. No longer would florists be forced to arrange posies for gay individuals. No baker would have to place two little ‘Steves’ on a wedding cake. No Chick-Fil-A or Hobby Lobby would be forced to – do what?  Worse yet, the law is so broad that it protects the KKK!

North Carolina is still mired in hate and discrimination, with plans to employ bathroom bouncers –  to make darned sure people are who they say they are. On the bright side, see how the threat of an exodus of zombies helped the state of Georgia become a much more tolerant place
