North Korea - Last Week Tonight, John Oliver and Weird Al Yankovic

As nuclear tensions continue to escalate between the United States and North Korea, John Oliver enlists “Weird Al” Yankovic to perform some accordion-based diplomacy. If this seems like an odd idea, it isn’t. One of the fascinating things we learn about North Korea is their absolute mania for the instrument! If all goes well, “Weird Al” and his full orchestra of lederhosen -clad oompah musicians will get through to the (other) land of propaganda and weird haircuts.

As John points out, Americans become more or less concerned about North Korea’s nuclear threat depending a great deal upon how near they reside to  the proposed strike zone. Mistakes happen, so it behooves us all to care deeply. John explores what North Koreans are thinking, how we got ourselves into this mess, and what we can possibly do about it.

There are several realistic options for dealing with Kim Jong-un…But when you factor in our own infant leader, perhaps the best option is to hand this video to Dennis Rodman, and see if he can save the world. It can’t hurt!
