Searching high and low this the only politics I could find in last night’s celebration of extreme opulence. And it was well after the actual ceremony. At the ceremony itself the only thing I noticed was a some over the top applause when the Hollywood King of Gratuitous Violence took the stage or when DJANGO was mentioned. Hey, come on Hollywood, the overwhelming cause of the violence problem is of course the hardware, but pretending violence in the movies has nothing to do with it is unfair.

Dustin Hoffman has enough money to live a life protected by doormen, chauffeurs, personal assistants, gated community and when necessary all the armed guards he could imagine. So anything out of his mouth about gun control is both gratuitous and hypocritical.
