Polish First Lady Snubs Trump's Handshake, Trump Accused of Cribbing Polish Speech

The Trumps arrived in Warsaw, Poland Thursday and were greeted warmly by Polish President Andrzej Duda on right, and First Lady Agata Kornhouser-Duda. However, before handshakes were exchanged all around, things got extremely awkward!

Donald Trump’s handshakes have often been the cause of embarrassment and undoubtedly pain – as he famously captures a hand and yanks as if starting an outboard motor, quite often refusing to free the unsuspecting victim.

Karma paid Trump a visit on Thursday. Both the President and First Lady of Poland greeted Trump on arrival in Warsaw. However when Kornhauser-Duda moved forward with an extended hand toward Melania, Trump, standing nearer, thought the handshake was for him – again, and reached out to Kornhauser-Duda. Trump’s face registers a startled and disappointed look when the Polish President’s wife shook Melania’s hand, not his. For a few seconds he stares angrily at her back.
Socially graceful, and in all likelihood good with children, Kornhauser-Duda sized up the situation and took Trump’s wee paw into her graceful long hand, for yet another handshake.

It was an understandable mistake for the Polish First Lady to make. In our country – rather, in this administration, it is customary for the President to race ahead of the First Lady, leaving her behind like forgotten luggage…And hey, you don’t introduce luggage do ya?

While right-wing outlets claim Trump’s speech in historic Kransinski Square today was ‘powerful’ and nearly as ‘stunning’ as Ivanka’s snug dress, more level heads witnessed Trump educating the Polish crowd on their own history. It is widely agreed that the speech seems to have been cribbed straight from the Polish page of Wikipedia. For those who have seen Trump struggle with American history, the irony will not be lost on you.
