Pranked San Francisco KTVU Apologizes, Retracts Fictional Names in Asiana Flight 213 'Scoop'

KTVU the local San Francisco Fox affiliate is paying the price for their haste in scooping other networks to provide  information on the the deadly Asiana Flight 214 airline crash.   At noon Friday, the station hastened to report the  names of the pilots who were in charge of flight 214. The anchor reported the pilots names as: “Ho Lee Fuk”  “Sum Ting Wong,” “Wi Tu Lo,”  and  “Bang Ding Ow.” As you can see, the false info was reported with a straight face.

Along with a glaring lack of proof-reading in the news room, it is said that  the fault lies with the National Transportation Safety Board. The Board apologized for “inaccurate and offensive names that were mistakenly confirmed as those of the pilots of Asiana flight 214.” The plot thickens as it was revealed that a summer intern acted outside the scope of his authority when he erroneously confirmed the names of the flight crew on the aircraft.  You can make up your own appropriate name for the wayward intern, although an accurate  surname would be “Gone.”
