Republicans Are People Too Stephen Colbert

Republicans Are People Too Stephen Colbert

Republicans are running a new ad to convince you that they’re human, just in time for the midterm election! Perhaps you’ve seen it. If so, you know this is not a spoof or an Onion-style piece, as much as it appears to be.

The ad has a  ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ feeling, in that they are taking a completely different tack.  The people who are most likely to be of the majority, well-off financially and accustomed to crushing others unmercifully under their heels – want you to know that they are an abused minority who have feelings, too! Not only do they have feelings, wicked liberals constantly abuse them and take their lunch money.

If it seems odd that the people pictured in the ad are from every nationality known to man, and every occupational demographic including  bearded ladies with tattoos…You’re right.  One typical Republican drives a Prius – as ‘average’ as they could imagine a car to be. A 1980 Honda or a ‘Classic’ Gremlin simply didn’t cross the producer’s minds. Nit-picking aside, these Republicans are ‘just folks.’ They are not the CEO’s of soul-crushing companies, they’re YOU.

Stephen Colbert dashes many a hopeful illusion when he discloses that the nice people in the photos are not  Republicans. They are stock photo models. You can use the same ‘typical Republican’ photo to advertise the opening of your Democratic headquarters, your Psychic Friends Network and your Bored Sexy Housewives phone line. For that matter, you can paste them into your annual Christmas letter!

You’ll understand when you learn who is responsible for the ad. Vinny Minchillo – have you heard of him? This P.R.  man is credited with humanizing Mitt Romney!  Think about it. Without Vinny, Romney would have appeared to be a stiff, unapproachable, aloof, One Percenter!    Vinny did the ad for himself as well as for his fellow Republicans who suffer. Get a hanky. Vinny said:
“On social media, I’ve been called every name in the book…It’s become socially acceptable to talk about Republicans in the most evil terms possible…”  Really? It must be living hell for Vinny and other Republicans.
I often  comment about a piece of music on Youtube, and soon terms such as ‘ignorant libtard,’ ‘Barack Ebola’ and ‘stupid socialist gun grabber’ start to fly. The actual political discussions get nasty.

Stephen unexpectedly ‘comes out’ and admits he’s a Republican. By doing so he hopes that others such as ‘Papa Bear O’Reilly’ who fly under the “Independent’ flag will man up and admit their true colors. Stephen is obviously blinded by his own strong political feelings. O’Reilly and other FOX independents will never cross to  the Republican side. To do so would be to cast aside their neutral status, the fairness they show toward Democrats and Republicans alike.
Why is it they claim to be ‘Independents’ again? Perhaps Vinny can explain that one to us next year, he seems to enjoy a challenge.
