Republicans see Pakistan as the model conservative nation

There is a problem for Republicans these days. 40 years ago when people like me said PEACE would be a good idea, perhaps give it a chance, we were told to LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT. We had many places to go to the left of America. Most all of Western Europe, Eastern Europe, Canada, Australia, Japan, even Cuba Mexico.

When a black president was elected in the United States and people totally unlike me are still screaming bloody murder they too can be told to LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT. But there are not all that many places for Republicans to go that are more conservative than the United States: Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Indonesia, Uganda, Congo, Libya and of course Iran.

And not to forget the socialist enemy states of Republicans: Great Britain, Canada, Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, Switzerland, New Zealand, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Hungary and recently South Africa.

Our Fantasy Nation – Nicholas D. Kristof

With Tea Party conservatives and many Republicans balking at raising the debt ceiling, let me offer them an example of a nation that lives up to their ideals.

It has among the lowest tax burdens of any major country: fewer than 2 percent of the people pay any taxes. Government is limited, so that burdensome regulations never kill jobs.

This society embraces traditional religious values and a conservative sensibility. Nobody minds school prayer, same-sex marriage isn’t imaginable, and criminals are never coddled.

The budget priority is a strong military, the nation’s most respected institution. When generals decide on a policy for, say, Afghanistan, politicians defer to them. Citizens are deeply patriotic, and nobody burns flags.

So what is this Republican Eden, this Utopia? Why, it’s Pakistan.

With Somalia the example of a Ron and Rand Paul Libertarian state.

Kristof fails to mention the aspect of NRA paradise in Pakistan. Guns are considered the JEWELS of a man, it is a heavy weapons culture were assault rifles, machine guns, RPGs, missiles and rocket launchers are common outside cities.

Somalia and Afghanistan are even more gun fun by also adding their version of Republican "states rights" where the countries are balkanized into areas controlled by different religious laws and criminal rules. Republican paradise.
