One of the big changes in my life happened slowly after I moved down to Texas so long ago. As the years passed I realized that the Christianity I had been exposed to in the North – that of a loving, non violent compassionate figure in Jesus Christ – had no business down here Dixie. Down here Jesus Christ is our executioner, our advocate of vengeance, a war monger, an NRA gunloon who takes joy in slapping even children around. Even beyond the joy of violence he has now become an intolerant bigot and advocate for the wealthy leaving the poor and disenfranchised behind.
And this corrupted form of Christianity has found me moving my primary allegiance toward NON VIOLENCE. As even Jesus Christ has gone over to the other side, who else is there to try and change our barbaric nature?
The Evangelical Christianity (faith based religion) at play these days has become the most disgusting aspect of what America has become. And hey, if we are going to make something up and make it our primary purpose, why not make it work for the greater good rather than for personal selfishness.
