After Arizona Congressman J. D. Hayworth was defeated over his ties to big time political crook Jack Abramoff – who is still in jail – he went on to become a Right-wing radio host little different than Rush Limbaugh in either style, content or appearance.
Today he officially become the Tea Party candidate running against John McCain in the Republican primary for the Senate.
What struck me in his speech today was the applause after his three main television soundbites.
John McCain, like a liberal is against water boarding! [applause]
John McCain like a liberal believes in Climate Change! [applause]
John McCain like a liberal is for closing Gitmo! [applause]
There you pretty much have what the Tea Party movement is about. Standing ovations for torture, ignorance, and denial of due process! It’s the nature of the Beast.
