Back when we called them Jesus Freaks they referred to their evangelical fundamentalist religion as The Word. Somewhere along the line that was changed to The Truth. Religions may be a lot of fine and wonderful things, but The Truth is not one of them. In fact religion has nothing to do with truth. It’s truthless, the anti-truth, the non-truth, and of course the grandest lie ever perpetrated in human history. So how does it happen that so many can so corrupt the truth of things? You know the answer, it’s the bane of reason, we are only going to believe what we wish to believe.
This issue reared its unreasonable head in another venue, the Crazyass Fox News Republican Presidential debate. When moderators and candidates got done singing the praises of torture (other than John McCain) Ron Paul blurted out The Truth. He said that U.S. foreign policy is what has spurred Islamic terrorism, the undeniable truth of the matter.
The entire crazyass gang on stage jumped on crazyass Paul with Rudy Giuliani getting in the last word by saying it was the most “absurd statement he ever heard.” Later, Eric Dondero, a former aid to Ron Paul now running against him for his congressional seat down here in Dumbass said his statement was “treacherous and treasonous!” Truth is a very strange thing.
