The news that it’s possible for the CIA to use Samsung TVs to spy on the viewer is bad PR for the company – but it couldn’t have come at a worse time for Samsung. Samsung’s exploding phones and other dysfunctional products have recently caused a PR nightmare for Samsung, and forced the company to launch unprecedented recalls.
John Oliver believes there is only one thing Samsung can do, and that is to run an honest ad, and come clean about their product’s flaws. You’re seeing that ad now, and it appears to be a little more ‘honest’ than even Samsung had expected. Exploding phones, and washers that hold us at bay are ominous, but I think you’ll be astonished to see what else Samsung’s phones, robot vacuums, laptops and washer/dryer duos get up to while we sleep!
