God has seen fit to take the Rolly Polly man, Antonin Scalia, home leaving the American body politic in more upheaval than electing a black president twice though not as much upheaval as would a President Trump or President Cruz.
How long do we have to wait before anyone can cheer the demise of the most powerful right-wing lunatic in America? It’s been 24 hours, which is more time than Fox News, talk radio and the GOP presidential candidates would give a Liberal.
So with the second ugliest politico in America removed from the top ten disgusting humans list, Clarence Thomas and Sam Alito both move up a notch to second and third place. Of course this also moves up the remaining six uglies; Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Roger Ailes, Michael Savage, Rudy Giuliani and Ted Cruz up a notch leaving one new open appointment. With the criteria a mix of sheer ugliness and the power to affect, I suppose slot ten should to go to Mitch McConnell. Sorry Sarah, your dead in the water.
So what now? Obama will make a nomination in the next week or two while the Republican Senate vows to not allow whoever it is up for a vote. You know, that part of the constitution that says no presidential appointments shall be made in an election year.
Who will it be?
With the abomination that is Clarence “Slappy” Thomas as the antithesis of an African American on the court, I would guess a black liberal of one sort or another will be chosen. And as it doesn’t really matter as the Republican held Senate will refuse whoever it is, how about Al Sharpton?
Though my guess would be Loretta Lynch but the GOP Senate did hold up her nomination for Attorney General for eight months because she was, well you know.
This nomination will indeed fire up the Republican Base and the gun talk and help them get out the vote in the coming election. But then again, if the GOP does refuse to follow the constitution, the Democratic Base will get fired up for the polls too.
And at least we have a reprieve from 24/7 primary crap.
