Senator Tom Colburn Asks America to Pray That Senator Byrd Doesn’t make it

Outside Knuckledrag, Oklahoma the state’s two REPUBLICAN Senators are known as Tweedledee and Tweedledum. The latter, Senator Daniel Inhofe, is the dullest knife in the Senate drawer and America’s highest ranking elected official screeching to the world that Climate Change is hoax. The former, Senator Tom Colburn is an Evangelical Christian Fundamentalist whackjob whose life is dedicated to denying pregnant women and gays their human rights.

Nine hours before the health care vote, Senator Colburn – knowing full well that a very sick Senator Robert Byrd would have to brave a major snow storm to be wheeled in on a hospital bed or wheelchair to cast the 60th vote with Democrats – asked all Americans to pray that Jesus will come to Washington DC to intervene by either making Senator Byrd too sick of too not alive  to keep him from voting. Which goes well with the prevailing attitude of American Evangelical Christianity, JESUS KILLS.

This is not only a reflection of how American Evangelical Christianity has been so grievously corrupted by the political Right, but  also a reflection upon the Republican Party which has turned Jesus into a well armed, violent, free market executioner.

As I am sure the effort of the Schlafly Family over at Conservapedia to rewrite the New Testament reflecting modern right-wing intolerance and and free market economics, the Xmas story of the three wiseman will have the presents given to the Lord of Peace changed from Gold, Frankenstein and Myrrh to Gold, .357 magnum and a signed copy of Ayn Rand’s "The Virture of Selfishness".

[BTW, I recently found the who, what, where and when of the beginning of the "Religious Right" here in 1977]

I must also remind yall that though Oklahoma has the two top wingnut Republican Senators, down here in Dumbutt, Texas matters are not much better.

The campaign for Governor of Texas has begun. Governor Rick Perry is ahead – mostly due to his infamous speech at the first Glenn Beck Tea Baggers rally where he threaten Texas succession from the Union. Kay Bailey Hutchinson is no slouch and is doing her best to sink into the wholesale bigotry and intolerance of Texas culture.

Every week we seem to see one of the other take a new dive deeper into some form of Right-wing Shitism. Lately it has been who most rabidly supports Texans taking their Mach 10s and Uzis into bars. Sporting events is the next step we hear…
