Perry thought he would function as an ambassador for American gas and oil companies. In actuality, he is the steward of a vast national security complex, caring for the most fearsome weapons on the planet.
While campaigning, Perry named the Department of Energy as one of the agencies he would destroy if elected. Ironically, he may have lost the election, but he still has an opportunity to fulfill one of his campaign promises.
