Sexism and Misogyny at Houston Fire Station 54

"I do not condone, nor will I tolerate what occurred at Station 54." Houston Mayor Annise Parker

Not long ago female firefighters Jane Draycott and Paula Keyes complained to the Houston Fire Chief that they were being sexually harassed by male co workers at Fire House 54. After the complaint fireman at station 54 – wanting to show how absurd the accusations were – placed hangman nooses and scrawled racial epitaphs on the walls of their fire station sleeping quarters.

Last week Draycott returned to work to what was suppose to be a session of contrition, but turned out to be 4 hours of in your face personal attacks by the station chief and the coworkers of station 54. The Houston fire chief was present and finally stopped the show, after 4  hours of it! Draycott walked out and returned to paid leave and her lawyers. Paula Keyes also on paid leave decided not to show up for her turn and is back talking to her lawyers. Houston Chronicle Story

Our new mayor Annise Parker is – how does one say – PISSED!

In a related story Houston female firefighter Heather Arnorld though not part of station 54 has said she has suffered now sexism and is doing just fine with her male coworkers.

I apologize for not putting names to the faces in the accompanying graphic as there is no way of knowing who is who! Kick! Bigotry and Sexism
