Oh please, Romney was gloating about votes when this video was made, but the same thing that caught my trivial eye also the eye of Shepard Smith, seasoned news guy. Romney is so anxious to fit into the world of regular guys that he makes one faux pas after another. His latest blunder is of a sartorial nature, it’s – the horror of ‘Mom Jeans!’ These are the jeans that no regular guy would be caught dead in – ever! Imagine Bruce Springsteen eschewing his Levis in favor of a higher waist and more seat room – admit it, you can’t. It was particularly sad when Romney’s wife appeared wearing her authentic ‘Mom Jeans’ and the two stood side by side, looking like twin fashion victims.
Call me superficial and trite – but listen to what Shep Smith blurted when he caught Romney’s ‘everyman’ act.
"Do you think he’s aware he’s wearing "Mom Jeans" It’s 2012, somebody ought to tell him!" It didn’t stop there. Smith, whom I’ve never heard do a fashion review seemed to be stunned, and highly amused by Mitt’s naivete’ referring to them again and again. Signing out to go to commercial Smith shouted "It’s Mom Jeans Day! Join the trend!"
