I’ve got it! Do any of you remember B1 Bob Dornan. He was the craziest right-wing nut in Congress 20 years ago. He would rant and rave, got into a few fights on the House Floor, had to be dragged out of the Well a few times, would drool and spit parts of breakfast and lunch into his beard. And one could sometimes here his F word triads from the House Cloak Room. To Bob, just about everyone was a Marxist or a communist sympathizer. He is what made CSPAN watchable and exciting.
But it wasn’t until he lost his Orange County US Congressional seat to a Latino Woman that it all came clear. He was interviewed at night in front of his home getting out of his car. Angry and blaming his loss on Nuns no less. HE WAS DRUNK AS HELL. HE WAS DRUNK MOST OF THE TIME! It just never occurred to me until I actually saw it. I should have been aware though as I am from Wisconsin, home of Senator Tail Gunner Joe McCarthy who was also a hopeless drunk. Dornan went on to become a West Coast Talk Radio host.
So has anyone ever checked all those coolers at Tea Party rallies? We know there are a lot of Hostess products in them, but perhaps all that bottled water is really gin?
