You rarely see these’ cartoon characters together in one place, but the Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad and Bob’s Burgers have all come together in one big Saint Patrick’s Day celebration for fans and soon-to-be-fans. We hope it won’t cause some people to become ‘never-will-be-fans’ just from this snippet!
Patriotic ‘American Dad’ Stan, and daughter Haley bond over a traditional beverage – rather, a beverage that’s often associated with the land of shamrocks and vicious green hangovers. Elsewhere, on a dream trip to Ireland, Meg (played by Mila Kunis) continues to get less love and respect from than Brian the family dog. When Meg tells Lois that people ‘over there’ drink wine with meals. A ‘superior’ Lois slams Meg’s fragile ego and lets her insular ‘ugly American’ slip as well…And somehow Seth MacFarlane makes even this cruel-sounding exchange, funny.
I might add the ‘wine cultures’ are often much different than ours where binge drinking is more of a problem. On cue: Bob stops flipping burgers, for a little party, where like many – he will drink from anywhere and anything when challenged; “You don’t know what you’re missin’.” Words to the wise: If anyone brings out an Iguana Butt cocktail – run!
As if they saved the dumbest for last, Homer demonstrates how effective court-ordered alcohol monitors which are attached to one’s car can be. The other bookend of the dumbest dad duo, Peter Griffin and his friend Joe Swanson demonstrate how very important it is to take your drunk friend’s keys at the end of an evening of celebration…Even if it’s confusing, persevere.
