Starbucks is Anti-Marriage, Biblically Wrong Warns Pastor David Barton, Fmr GOP Chair

Starbucks is Anti-Marriage, Biblically Wrong Warns Pastor David Barton, Fmr GOP Chair. Church, meet State. RWW Right Wing Watch

David Barton, who also happens to be an evangelical pastor and the former vice-chair of the Republican Party of Texas went on a rant at the Whitesburg Baptist Church in Huntsville, Alabama.  Did Barton rant about the blind eye we turn to our neighbors in need?  Perhaps Barton stuck with a classic – like the evils of gossip or our national trend toward violence?   I’m afraid those topics took a back seat to Barton’s current campaign…Coffee.
I hope the faithful had already downed their cappuccinos and mochas before the service, because Barton took aim at Starbucks. If you believe Barton, and who doesn’t – Christians can’t drink  coffee from Starbucks and be ‘biblically correct’ due to the company’s support of marriage equality. He estimates that ten to fifteen cents of every cup goes to ‘attack marriage’ although I’ve yet to see a Starbuck’s ad actually attacking marriage, nor is the atmosphere hostile to married couples. ..But perhaps I’m oblivious to the subtle signs.

So, to paraphrase Dirty Harry, Do you want to be happy or you want to take a stand against Starbucks…Well, do ya punk?   When you see a couple sipping a ‘generic’ brand of coffee – perhaps holding their noses and gulping it quickly, you’ll know that they are devoted to the sanctity of marriage in this country. In this part of the country we have many topless and bikini-clad barista drive-thru establishments. This should be a real boon for them.  I’m certain that these small business owners wish to thank you, ever-vigilant David Barton.
