There has been one very big win for the Right over the past decade.
The more than obvious joke in extending the height of the Statue of Liberty is to put a big frigging gun in our American Jesus’ hand. I would guess Colbert and all the writers originally had it in the script. But it was subbed with a sub because being unarmed is no longer popular in America. YOU had better make sure your gun is a lot bigger than the other guys gun, and especially important that your gun is bigger and faster than what the police or the Marines have.
