EQUAL PAY FOR WOMEN UNANIMOUSLY REJECTED BY REPUBLICANS IN THE HOUSE.
Of course the Republicans in the House yesterday voted against this equal pay for women crap, unanimously, including all the Republican women in the House.
Their reasoning is that we already have laws on the books to deal with this – though those laws were enacted with the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which Republicans hate more than they do Al Sharpton – haven’t done diddlysquat.
The issue is why those laws have not done diddlysquat? Simply because employers can keep salary information private and fire employees who squeal that information.
As Lilly Ledbetter has said so well and so often, that lack of pay scale information is what has kept women economically only 3/4 of a man throughout our history, Civil Rights Act of not.
Republicans unanimously reject such corporate transparency claiming it is just more big government regulation which ruins the economy, destroys jobs and worse, causes corporations to lose lawsuits in civil rights cases.
