Stephen Colbert, The Obamacare death catapult

BUCKLE DEDUCTIBLE BUCKLE DEDUCTIBLE BUCKLE DEDUCTIBLE

obamacare death catapultI haven’t seen Republicans this happy since MSNBC fired Martin Bashir for giving Sarah Palin a well deserved and long overdue kick in the pants. They are giggling snort snotting joyous!  After all, this CBO comment means that people keeping their dead end jobs only for the Health care can quit and give the jobs to the unemployed who need the job more than they do!

The problem of course is how powerful Fox News, talk radio and the Americans for Prosperity are in pushing the front end sound bite while the reality is lost in the boring and confusing truth of the matter, so very well expressed by Mr. Colbert falling asleep at his desk. This seems to be one of the great advantages the GOP gains from Fox News and talk radio. Whoever gets the first soundbite out wins, for the response is usually far too complicated for most Americans to deal with.

There is an elephant in the room that the Republicans refuse to accept. There are no longer enough jobs to go around which has nothing to do with moochers, lazy bums or the welfare state. It has to do with technology replacing workers exponentially.

Give the GOP a break on this. For if they were to accept that elephant in the room, their entire ideology of no need for a “safety net” in free markets goes down the toilet. Which leaves them with what? A party celebration of racial and ethnic bigotry and religious intolerance.

The question should be who should get the jobs that remain and who should stay home to cook meth?
