The small word there is “unemployed”.
The Republican argument to cut off money to the million or so employed is that it is socialism that advocates dependency. No matter that is proved time and again to be a pile of crap, it is a winning argument from the same crowd who say evolution is a lie, global warming is a hoax and reducing taxes on the wealthy tinkles down on you, when if fact it has done just the opposite.
What cutting off unemployment payments does is to drives thousands of families out of their homes and into other programs like food stamps – oops Republicans cut food stamps before Christmas. Part of the War on Christmas I assume.
Entitlements they tell us, are socialist programs thatoverflow with dependence, fraud and gaming the system. Another fact they refuse to come to terms with is that no “entitlement” agency suffers more than even a 5% fraud or dependency rate.
So ask them this.
If 20 kids are hungry and one just ate lobster and steak from Mom’s foodstamps, do you take away the food from the other 19 kids? No, don’t ask that for it will only further your disappointment in humanity.
