Texas: DNA proves Michael Morton innocent after 25 years in jail

This is actually a Rick Perry story. Texas injustice applauded. Mr. Morton He could very well have been executed down here in Dumbutt for something prosecutors knew he did not do.

For any of you who actually believe our criminal justice system is fair, or that prosecutors only want to do the right thing, I BEG you to read this story Another innocent man freed from a Texas jail

In brief, 25 years ago Michael Morton was accused of murdering his wife though he contended she was alive when he left for work. Prosecutors ILLEGALLY withheld critical evidence from the defense lawyers and the jury which would have found him innocent.

In 2006 his new pro bono lawyers asked for a DNA test and an appeal for their client. John Bradly, the prosecutor at the time, denied them any DNA testing.

When news hit that Governor Perry had executed an innocent man, the Todd Willingham fire case, Rick Perry appointed John Bradly to head the State forensic department to specifically deny access to information on that case.

Prosecutors will do anything to get guilty verdicts which move them up the political ladder. Here in Texas the more people they send to the death chamber, the more gold stars the get, the more Evangelical Christians vote for them and the easier it is to gain elective office.

As Justice Scalia says said so proudly, it is okay to execute the innocent as long as the law is followed. And there is your REPUBLICAN RULE OF LAW CRAP.
