The basic dynamic of the rift between conservatives and liberals has gone pretty much unchanged over the past 50,000 years or so. The intensity of the rift may rise and fall but the song remains the same. This year there is a new phrase on the Republican side to express that difference thanks to Matt Kibbe, the so called Father of the Tea Party and CEO of FreedomWorks.
Why should I have to pay anything to support people I don’t know?
Of course the unsaid “people I don’t know” includes people Republicans don’t like, don’t agree with and are not the same color, religion or ethnicity as they are – though it mainly concerns African-Americans of which only 95% understand that to be the reality.] BTW the answer to Mr Kibbe’s question is… Because we want to rise up from our barbaric nature to what the world outside the Republican Bubble call “civilization.”
On the liberal side it’s the same ole story.
We are all in this together.
Old and tired to be sure. But steady progress in that direction is historic no matter a few setbacks here and there.
