The Republican Convention’s Rough & Rowdy Start – Seth Meyers

The Republican Convention's Rough & Rowdy Start - Seth Meyers

Seth Meyers takes a closer look at the RNC’s disastrous and highly entertaining first day.  With protesters, an outright revolt, zero sparkling celebrities and outright plagiarism by  Melania Trump, it was a rocky beginning to the honeymoon phase between the RNC and candidate Donald Trump. Perhaps Trump should put a diamond-encrusted thesaurus on Melania’s Christmas List this year?  Clips of Melania reciting the speech word for word with  Michelle Obama circled the globe today.  One apologist  claimed that the words could easily have come from ‘My Little Pony’ and suggests that Michelle Obama might have plagiarized MLP for her 2008 speech to Democrats.
As Seth reasons, when Melania said ‘Donald is a wonderful father to our two girls Sasha and Malia’  we knew any ‘coincidental similarities’ were just a steaming pile of My Little Pony crap.  We’re reminded that The Donald bragged “I know words. I have the best words” – no doubt he has more than we do – just ask him.  Now we know where he gets them.
You’ll note that a glittering array of stars were conspicuously absent. Even Stardust Palin was in Alaska tending to snarly legal problems for her (could’ve been) warrior son. Magical thinking is the power that propels this campaign.  Donald Trump  told reporters that Sarah Palin could not be with us in Ohio, because Alaska is a just too far away.
