This is absolutely the best transgender bathroom debate I have seen thus far, please don’t miss it.
I am a little ahead of this game as it was last Fall that we down here in Houston went through this very loudly. Framed as “men watching your grandmother and daughters pee,” led of course by Ted Cruz and our entire statewide elected officials, the bigotry won the day, 63 to 37 to repeal HERO, the non discrimination act.
The argument then – as now which I have not see made by anyone other than me until this Chris Matthews piece – is where are transgender people suppose to pee? The answer of course is NOWHERE. This is not about bathrooms it is about purposefully with malice of forethought and dark foul hearts keeping transgender people out of everywhere.
What is so telling about this debate is that every argument nasty little rat Travis Weber from the Family Research Center have is just a bunch of meaningless goobleygook. I don’t think I ever saw Chris Matthews say, “ANSWER THE QUESTION!” so many times in one interview. Which of course was never answered. If transgender people want to travel through airports, they will have just learn to hold it in or pee their pants. Wait! What about the bathrooms on the plane? It is okay for transgender people to pee alone?
I really believe that not only the political power of the religious right is dying but Donald Trump is helping us realize the fascist bigotry that is inherent not only in The South, but in middle America.
