Bishop Eddie Long, prominent and influential pastor of an Atlanta megachurch is charged in the sexual abuse of two young men, and a call has gone out for other victims to come forward. Long, AKA " Richer by the Scripture" is a married father with children who campaigns loudly against Gay Marriage. Sadly, this adds more confirmation of my theory that those who preach the loudest against the sexuality of others, generally have the most to hide in their own lives, and it sounds like Pastor Eddie’s closet is about to empty in a disgusting heap.
Despite Long’s critical opposition to gay marriage, he engaged in a ‘covenant’ with one of the young men, exchanging jewelry and vows. In similar stories, the two described coercion, manipulation, and the use of power to seduce and abuse them. Church coffers were used to buy extravagant gifts, and finance trips for the boys and the pastor. The mother of one boy expressed shock, having thought that it was a wonderful thing for her son to have been singled out by such a great man for personal attention. The abominable "personal attention" is described in great deal in court documents.
