Doing Mexico back then on $10 a day was easy. I could usually last a couple months at least. A place to hang a hammock, pitch a ten or a bunk in a hostel was a buck. Two meals a day at $2 each (too busy for lunch). And the remaining $5 on Coronas. Tequila and pot were usually free from so many new-found amigos of one stripe or another. I sure did hit it off with the Aussies.
