Donald Trump phones – just as Conan O’Brien and Andy are discussing the recent press conference, where Trump directed a hulking bodyguard to forcibly remove Univision reporter Jorge Ramos from the room.
Trump justifies the action, claiming that Ramos was “screaming” at him, and speaking out of turn. Oddly, that’s not what Conan or I – saw, but Trump’s version has been repeated by his fans in high and low places. Even Mika on Morning Joe repeated the tale convincingly, as if she were testifying with her hand on a Bible. So, who are you going to believe – the official Trump version or your lyin’ eyes? Conan shows a bit of the video, so if you’ve missed it, as unlikely as that is – you can judge for yourself.
Trump is predictably grateful when Conan advises him that screaming was a bit of an ‘overreaction’ and that he even appeared to be disrespectful to Ramos, causing some to wonder about his diplomatic chops.
It’s a shame that Conan (too) was screaming at The Donald, and needed to “sit down and shut up” Trump’s fans love that he’s a take-charge kind of guy, and he takes charge of Conan’s show,giving him an opportunity to demonstrate his full range of oratory and diplomatic skills. .
