Leary performs his newest, most highly objectionable song yet, Frank Sinatra style. He paints an ugly picture of the out-of-touch American, happily fat, dumb and lazy. It’s not clear if he selected the week of July 4th intentionally, but I suspect this dose of national humility was scheduled to coincide with the day of national pride and drunken revelry. Ignorant of the world beyond his big screen 3-D TV, the rest of the world can “kiss his big fat” – well, you get the idea. The biggest question is, will those who are depicted take it as mockery or an encouraging rallying cry?
