A group of bare-breasted ladies had the audacity to show up at one of the monthly walks staged by the open-carry group ‘Come And Take It Texas’ and their presence visibly unnerved the big gun crowd. The open carry goons jumped to the assumption that the women were protesting guns – period, but the group called “Boobs for Peace” were clearly only protesting open carry. It’s worth noting that it is legal to bare your breasts in the state of Texas. For those who complain that “innocent children are seeing those things” – there is no hope. For those who don’t want to see certain breasts on the street, it shouldn’t be a far leap of logic to understand that just because carrying your automatic weapon is legal, doesn’t mean it’s appropriate to display it.
A video taken by the group is so chaotic as to block out a great deal that is being said, which is why I chose not to post that version; but it’s clear that the women really put the gun guys off of their stride. Toward the end of the video the gun totin’ men ran into a coffee shop and began to babble about the topless ‘provocateurs’ following them. They then claimed they were followed into the shop…Is there no sanctuary? One of the open carry advocates, Tom Jefferson, claimed that counter-protestors harassed them. “They followed us into a small coffee shop and called us the Aryan Brotherhood,” he said. “They continually used terms like white pride and white power.” I watched the entire video, and heard nothing about white pride or white power. The ‘worst’ thing I saw directed to the gun toters were signs bearing comments such as “You know everyone thinks you’re overcompensating for your teeny tiny gun, right?” That observation is hardly the stuff of myth.
Once they were safely home again, the ‘Come And Take It Texas’ group spent the day on Facebook, where they displayed their usual class and style, ranting about being trolled by “Skanky Topless Libtards.” It’s understandable to overreact when you’re a’skeered!
