Australians live in one of the most inhospitable places known to man, but these wildly attractive residents feel safe every single day – and they’re concerned that we Americans can’t say the same.
Oddly, these people who eat Vegemite show good common sense, away from the kitchen. When they suffered one mass shooting in 1996, they reacted by doing something immediately. They tightened gun regulations and bought some guns back. Contrary to internet comments by insecure Americans, no guns were ‘grabbed.’ People still have guns in Australia. We in the U.S. have had more practice with this sort of thing. It’s customary to observe every massacre with ‘thoughts and prayers’ while rushing out to buy yet more guns!
While these people may not speak for all Australia, their concern should be taken to heart. If we continue on as one of the most violent countries in the world, no one is going to let us come and visit. Besides, more people die of honeybees and horses in Australia than from pit vipers, I’ll take the risk. Odds of deaths by ‘innocent by standing’ are now zero. .
