Jimmy Kimmel has it right, we as a country are now ‘Cousin Ray.’ Almost every family has one. Most middle and upper class Americans dodge Cousin Ray, and only his mama forces you to invite him to weddings and gatherings. They believe that Ray is irresponsible, a bit dim, and deserving of all of his own bad luck. Perhaps they’re right in some cases, in others, Ray has a war of words going on inside of his head – much like Republicans and Teabaggers, and he has probably spent his money (and yours) on shady deals. I’m not implying that we’ll develop empathy or learn from Ray’s mistakes. However, knowing this does make Jimmy Kimmel’s idea sound like the very best option that’s not on the table – yet!
