On Last Week Tonight, John Oliver uncovers the shocking Canadian Senate scandal taking place directly above our heads.. When you think of government scandals, Canada doesn’t pop into mind immediately. We in the U.S. are the champions of scandal – be it federal agents buying hookers and drugs, bribery, pay-offs, wire-tapping and the list goes on.
Ah, but this week Canada surged ahead of us scandal-wise, after an eighteen month investigation revealed massive misappropriation of public money. Typical Canadian expenditures included stamps, attendance at a curling event, travel expenses to a funeral and even breakfast.
By the way. The money found to be misappropriated amounted to one million dollars.
