The FEW? The intolerance and bigotry inherent in Islam comes not only in the billions of individuals, but in their state theocracies which write all that intolerance and bigotry into Sharia law.
Say what you will about Bill Maher, Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris or me, but we do not write a disbelief in God into law. Well other than the founding fathers anyway.
On the home front there are tens of millions of Christians celebrating not only their bigotry and intolerance, but doing everything they can to write that ugly crap into law. Half of AMERICANS do not even accept evolution. But no matter they hypocritically play their bigotry as Religious Freedom, Pro Life, and free speech when in truth it is about forcing others to adhere to their silly made up crap. Silly horrific made up crap.
We also always hear about Indonesia – the largest Muslim nation – as the good example of a Muslim nation. Hey Indonesia only throws people in jail for public expressions of disbelief rather than state sanctioned beheadings, lopping off limbs and stonings. Also Indonesia laws call for years of jail time for unmarried couples caught living together, adultery, and though homosexuality is not specifically outlawed, it is considered a mental disease giving them no legal rights or protections. 90% of Indonesians say a woman must obey her husband and 72% believe Sharia law should be the law of the land. So everything is fine in Indonesia, graded on a Muslim curve anyway.
But none of this is why I picked this article which I hope you will read. It is what we all have heard hundreds of times from our Christian friends and acquaintances.
Let us extend a hand of tea and sympathy to those FEW well meaning Christians like Mary Williams who we also often hear from like our friend here MS. Christian soup kitchens make it all okay!
Come on, a little understanding here. Consider what it must it like to everyday, day in and day out, see, hear and read the ugliest, dumbest, silliest crap ever heard which following it back always ends up with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
It must be very depressing. The only comparable issue I can come up with is how I feel when some liberal goes off on a finger shaking in the face issue of some sort of political correctness.
Sadly Christianity here and in the West is taking a hit because of the MANY evangelicals who put such an ugly stupid face on it, causing the FEW reasonable Christians to keep quiet and withdraw until it finally builds up – as it did with Mary Williams here – and they angrily strike out not at those making a fool of them and their religion but those bringing it to their attention. It’s understandable.
