By rights, John Lennon’s song “Instant Karma” should be be accompanying this slice of road rage from Florida. Here we see the Big Truck -Little Brain combo driver in action. The driver of the car in which the video was taken said the truck driver had “already passed a truck in a left turn lane, was tailgating and driving recklessly on a wet slick road, wasn’t paying attention, and all in all being an ignorant ass.” From what we see, she isn’t exaggerating one bit.
It then became his ultimate goal to get past the driver of the car, who could not switch lanes safely due to the dangerous road conditions. Truckasauris – who really needed to get by (perhaps to get to his Rage Anonymous meeting) harassed her until he could switch lanes and drive past her, when he slowed just long enough to flip her the bird with feeling, then recklessly drove away. As he sped off, he met up with sweet, sweet karma which sent him swerving off the road – safe, but in a heap of twisted metal and steam…from his ears? The driver’s laughter as she drove by Speedy the Butthead’s shiny collision with self-inflicted ‘luck’ can be excused and perhaps applauded – I did.
Oddly, a lot of people don’t feel that way at all. Beneath the Youtube video today, I see that comments have been discontinued due to a deluge of email including death threats! It appears that a great many of the over 5 million viewers (since March 27th) were extremely angry, and identified with the truck driver – can you believe it?
What caused such extreme anger in this case is a mystery, just as it is millions of times a day on America’s freeways, where drivers seem to be reliving favorite scenes from “Mad Max.”
Think of this when legislators rush to pass open carry laws – in bars, in church, in schools,movies and of course – in vehicles.
