Whether it be suicide to get on board a comet, leaving mortal Earth to planet Kolob or planet Xenu, blowing oneself up for access to virgins, or rejecting a child, a friend or a marriage because of homosexuality, what so many of us fail to understand is these people really believe their crazy crap.
They are saving us all from the literal reality of a burning eternity in Hell which to them is as real as a fair and balanced Fox News.
Which begs the question what is best for the rest of us, tens of millions of votes by intolerant bigots or tens of millions of votes from lunatics? Or is it all the same?
I just saw Morning Joe Scarborough proudly shout SHOOT HIM KILL HIM about the 60 year old gyrocopter pilot who landed on the capitol lawn with his letters to congress to stop taking the money. Sure SHOOT / KILL is what comes first to Republicans, that’s why they are Republicans. But sadly it now where American Christianity rests it’s halo. In fact as we look even beyond our own world, we see that the stronger religious belief is, the more celebration their is of guns, machine guns, executions, beheadings, suicide bombings, stonings, slapping kids around, war, glorifying snipers, bombing Iran and did I mention the guns? And that is not to mention the inherent intolerance, bigotry, sexism, homophobia, tribalism and Stupid that drives it all.
But we have to remember, those with nothing need something, so hands off…
UNLESS THEY TRY TO CODIFY THEIR SILLY CRAP INTO LAW!
When we hear any squawking about religion, it is always because someone is trying to force their beliefs upon others by law, whether it be evolution in schools, prayer in schools or city counsels, denying women reproductive rights, protecting discrimination and so on. The concept of flying sky creatures watching our every stop is never under question by the media or politicians, ever.
