Down here in Tomball, Texas a new Tea Party Republican got on the city council to submit his master plan to save his city. It seems Derek Townsend Sr. (pictured left) has only four concerns in his life: Ridding Tomball of a day laborer site, making Tomball an English Only community, awarding no city contracts to companies suspected of hiring undocumented workers and of course to make it illegal for the undocumented to own property, businesses or even rent a place to live. To their credit, this town of 10,000 just North of Houston voted against all four of Townsend’s laws.
But don’t wave the banner of Texas Tolerance too soon, for the vote was not so much about any ideological kindness but because councilman Rick Brown explained that when Farm Branch, a town outside Dallas, a few years ago passed similar laws it resulted in the laws not only being struck down by the courts, but it cost the town $2 million in legal fees. A lose-lose proposition for all concerned.
Of course like all these Tea Party Republicans they SCREAM that it has NOTHING to do with RACE. That they only love the letter of the law. It reminds me of the same dishonest crap Southerners play in denying the Civil War was about slavery when it was really about States Rights (to own slaves).
"If I just wandered over to the day laborer site, it appears I could drink, loiter and litter. I’ve witnessed that going on over there, I want this town to be safe, but many heinous crimes are being committed every day by illegal aliens. It’s not about racism." Mark Degge exclaimed to the filled council room
So there you have it, Derek Townsend Sr also repeatedly told the audience it was not about race but the rule of law.
The heinous crimes of drinking, loitering and littering! OMG. And anytime a Hispanic spoke up at the meeting to explain there are only a few people at the site on any given day, shouts of "COMMIE" resounded through the room to an extent that the Tomball police Chief had to ask for calm.
"I’m so tired of all these stories of how we should feed and take care of them, And all I’m hearing is horror stories. Saturday on the corner, you have La Raza, anarchists and Marxists supporting our mayor and City Council." Tony Mooney told the crowd.
As you can see it is not about racism or even politics! Gosh, the door to Hell has been left open. Build a fence!
What does all this say about these KIND OF PEOPLE that make up the Republican Tea Party movement, whose primary function and greatest joy in life is to strike out at our poorest, our hardest working and those less white than they? And who get away with it denying what it is really all about because they know the media will cover for them to get share to sell their Twinkies and Trucks.

Indeed after losing the vote the people have risen up to harass Hispanics in Tomball. Tomball illegal immigrant foe isn’t done yet
In interviews after the vote, Hispanic American citizens have said they are being watched, trucks are following them, they are now afraid of just being in Tomball or going anywhere near the day labor site. Contractors are also afraid of being seen there and no Hispanics are not being hired for anything anymore. So it all worked out for Mr Townsend. One benefit Townsend and company enjoy over past endeavors of this sort is that these people are easy to spot, so their is no requirement that they wear yellow stars out in public.
