First the Tweet posted at 7am Sunday morning by Texas Lt Governor Dan Patrick
“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.”
24 likes, from people who were on Twitter early Sunday morning where there were headlines of what happened in that gay bar in Orlando. His staff took the tweet down a few hours later saying it was just serendipity and they posted scripture every Sunday morning. Why is the Lt Governor of Texas posting scripture? Is that on a private server? If so will there be an indictment soon?
Or course Twitter and all social media went nuts asking Patrick for an apology. Instead of an apology, Patrick wrote this on his Facebook page:
“Some wanted the post pulled down and others did not. Let me be clear, I didn’t pull down the FB post & tweet because God’s word is wrong. His word is never wrong. Taking down his word would be like tearing a page from the Bible because we didn’t like what God was telling us. I took it down to stop the hateful comments and the misinformation being spread of God’s message to all of us- straight or gay.”
State wide office holders in Texas are all Republicans who won by about 20 points each, here are the top four:
Greg Abbott Governor – an evangelical Christian with both a handgun and rifle holster on his wheelchair and friends with Ted Nugent who he campaigned with.
Attorney General Ken Paxton – an Evangelical Christian who has recently been indicted on 12 counts of graft and fraud.
Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller – an unusually stupid bigoted Evangelical Christian who keeps stepping it it, most famously billing Texans for a trip to Oklahoma to get a $1500 “Jesus Shot” that cures all disease for one’s entire lifetime.
Lt Governor Dan Patrick – An intolerant Evangelical Christian who is the loudest voice in Texas against gay marriage and keeping transgender people from peeing.
For about 25 years Dan Patrick owned and was a host on the two largest talk radio stations in Texas, one in Dallas and one in Houston, each morning he preceded Rush Limbaugh.
Back in 1996 I was painting the house and had the radio on all day listening to his crap for a week. On a Tuesday Rush Limbaugh left the “Hillary murdered Vince Foster” conspiracy with a newer one. A Chinese spy at Los Alamos was supposedly giving nuclear secrets to the Chinese. The proof of it was on laptop. A wild fire ensued near Los Alamos and the supposed laptop with the evidence was burned away. The fire was started by President Clinton and his wife Hillary to suppress the truth of their involvement in giving nuclear secrets to the Chinese. The following morning Dan Patrick went with the story for over an hour summing it up that if President Clinton AND HIS WIFE did start that fire to destroy the evidence as suspected, they committed treason and they should be executed. And that’s on a Dan Patrick nice day. Oh, the Chinese spy was born an American scientist working at Los Alamos and was within weeks found totally innocent. There was no laptop or hard dive or did it have anything at all to do with the Clintons. But about 50 million Republicans believe it anyway.
It was probably that hour that made him so popular in Texas that he decided he could become President of the United States so he sold off the radio stations, got elected to the Texas state senate in a landslide, to be elected Lt Governor in a landslide, on the road to Texas’ Governor and on to the White House. I suppose our only hope down here in Texas to keep Patrick away from the Governor’s mansion is to go with Ted Nugent who is the only one I know who could beat him.
Now after all that, it is for you to decide if the tweet was serendipity or not.
