Computer security expert Barnaby Jack, who was well known for raising awareness of hackable weaknesses in medical devices, was onto a major flaw in pacemakers and defibrillators. Jack found the devices can deliver a deadly 830-volt shock from someone on a laptop up to 50 feet away, the result of poor software programming by medical device companies. Jack was due to present the information at an Aug 1 Black Hat security conference in Las Vegas. The headline of his talk was, “Implantable Medical Devices: Hacking Humans.” Unfortunately Jack didn’t make it. Shortly before the conference, the healthy 36-year old was found dead. No cause for death has been identified…But several are suspected. I’m sure it’s coincidence that Dark Dick ‘The Bionic Heart’ Cheney comes to mind more often than not.
Julianna has even more horror stories from the surveillance wing of government.
1. This is true. They want to hack your Prius!
2. In good news, one brave lawmaker stands between your passwords and big government, which is twisting the arm of your internet provider, and demanding the super secret passwords like a schoolyard bully. Stand behind Rush Hold (D New Jersey) and his Surveillance State Repeal Act.
